  5. I am not up to the task of creating a quilt but will be waiting to see all the fine results. My family moved from New Jersey to California in 1956. We crossed the country in a Black and Yellow Oldsmobile. I vaguely remember pulling into and staying at Roy's Motel. It was HOT, HOT, HOT. No airconditioning and the bottles of coke exploded when we opened them. The trucks had multiple water bags hanging from their hoods in case they broke down. It was common place to see a stranded traveler on the side of the road with an overheated radiator.
